Initial Study
This is the initial information-gathering portion of the project in which business goals and objectives are identified and an overview of the entire project is created.

  • Interview and discuss business processes and requirements with key personnel
  • Analyze business processes
This process is necessary to ensure a successful implementation. It is important to have valid information prior to the start of a project. Without a clear understanding of what is needed, Better Business Methods, LLC may not be able to accurately fulfill a clients request. An agreement must be reached between Better Business Methods, LLC and the client to ensure this success.
  • Create a Proposal/Scope document that clearly identifies the applicable business requirements of the client
  • Identify major system requirements for the project
  • Allocate responsibilities for Better Business Methods, LLC, the ISP, and the client
  • Review and refine the scope of the project for approval and finalization

Functional Specification
The purpose of this phase is to define the functionality of the web site and the software tools that will be used to design it.

  • Define detailed requirements
  • Define full capabilities of the web site in concrete terms
  • Review and refine the functional specification for approval and finalization

Conceptual Design/Analysis
The purpose of this phase, which can be performed in tandem with the functional specification, is to define the look-and-feel, the navigational capabilities, and the information views for the web site.

  • Create scenarios for all major functions (i.e., Add catalog item, Update Products, etc.…)
  • Perform initial data analysis, identifying the major data objects
  • Develop a software “prototype” to match the Functional Specification

Development
During this phase, the approved prototype will be further developed to complete the web site construction.

  • Finalize data design and implement database
  • Use defined software tools to implement requirements

Testing and Implementation
At this point in the software development life cycle, extensive testing of the design will be done to determine if all of the functional specifications have been met. Once the specifications are met, the approved software solution will be put into production as the clients web site.

  • Test all aspects of web site solution to verify a sound design and demonstrate that all specifications have been met
  • Publish the clients web site on the Internet through a designated ISP
    • Retest the web site solution to ensure accuracy continues through the World Wide Web and the ISP.

User Training and Publication
This is the final development phase of the project. Better Business Methods, LLC’s goal in this phase is to publicize the web site to increase traffic and to provide the client with the ability to maintain the data for the web site.

  • Provide user training for the client to maintain database product and price information and to maintain other specific areas as needed
  • Provide user training for web graphics optimization

Register the web site with the major search engines and publish the site to high-traffic market related web sites
